Abstract
Prisons and prison systems in the world are, in stereotypical view of layman public, being seen as all alike or without much difference. However, these institutions and systems are influenced, beside legal framework, by many much less visible factors, such as: national, cultural and philosophically-legislative aspects and these factors are the subject of our consideration in this article.
