Aims and scope

Strani pravni život is peer-reviewed, open access scientific journal in the area of legal sciences.  Journal is published by scientific research organisation Institute of Comparative Law.

The journal publishes previously unpublished scientific papers related to international law and foreign legal systems (law analysis and/or case law comments) - legal comparison. Manuscripts should contain the results obtained by using comparative legal method: domestic law of author’s country of origin can be partially analysed, provided that the author compares domestic and foreign law. Authors can also publish other contributions, such as case law comments or book reviews.

Open Access

Strani pravni život is an open access journal and it doesn’t charge any fees either to readers to read, nor to authors to publish.

DOI

All scientific articles are assigned Digital Object Identifier (DOI) registered by CrossRef agency.

Indexing

Journal has been indexed in Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Central and Eastern European Online Library (CEEOL), European Reference Index for Humanities and Social Sciences (ERIHplus) and HeinOnline Law Journal Library.

Publication frequency

The journal is issued quarterly - both in electronic and printed version. All papers are proofread by language editors.

Since December 2025, the journal has introduced online first section. The Online First section contains articles that have been accepted for publication but have not yet appeared in an issue of the journal. They have been peer-reviewed and edited according journal policies. Online First articles should be cited using digital object identifiers (DOIs), which are assigned to every article. Before final publication, these manuscripts can be slightly amended due to minor technical and language corrections in the process of preparing the print layout of the journal issue. When the final version of the article is assigned to an issue, the online first version will be removed from this section.

Preservation and archiving

Digital copies of the journal are archived in the repository of the National Library of Serbia.

Journal uses Open Journal Systems (OJS) software for journal editing.
